Remembering Pop

Pop was a special person to me and I'm so fortunate to have had him as my father-in-law for fifty one years.
As we reflect on his life, so many memories come to mind. One of my earliest is of a bitterly cold and windy winter day back on the ranch. Harley and I were with him as we went out to "cake the cows". To me, the poor cows looked so cold with the icicles hanging from their noses. Pop's comment was "Ain't they pretty?" He was quite a rancher!
We wish so much that we could be with the rest of the family back in Nebraska today to help celebrate the life of this 100 year old man we all loved so much. This cowboy and his stories will always be remembered and hopefully we can all share in this blog to keep these memories for all of Pop's family and friends. Thanks, Susy for setting it up.

Remembering Grandpa

Hi Family and Friends of Grandpa Harry.
I am in Washington while many of you gather for Grandpa's funeral today. Some of my favorite memories of Grandpa were his stories. Each story added life and detail to our memories. Grandpa would tell a story he remembered about someone while in conversation with them. It was a way to reflect on our history together.
I have a few favorites and will share them in future posts as I invite you all to comment with your favorite stories and memories. Grandpa would love to know we were carrying his stories on and sharing them in memory of him now.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone missing Grandpa and mourning his loss. It is my hope that this place to share and reflect will help you all through the process and keep Grandpa's stories flowing for many years to come. Let's not allow the miles between us to cause us to lose sight of what memories we share.
